Amazon.com sold millions of Kindle e-readers last year. At the time, Apple’s iPad was becoming wildly popular, and there were inevitable comparisons between dedicated e-readers like the Kindle and tablet computers like the iPad, which could also be used to read electronic books. The tablets, by no means defeated the Kindle, which continued to sell [...]

The highly anticipated Toshiba Thrive has at long last been given an official release date for the US market, although such news has come via the Best Buy retail chain, rather than the manufacturer itself. Best Buy confirmed this Thursday that the new 10.1 inch tablet featuring the Google Android 3.1 Honeycomb OS will hit [...]

Just like Apple’s iPad Samsung has also launched its new Samsung Galaxy Tab. Although from the looks it looks pretty promising but let’s see how it is better or inferior to Apple’s iPad. As far as the body and looks are concerned the Samsung Galaxy has a sleek and stylish figure, having 16:9 7-inch screen [...]

There is a steady stream of tablet PCs flowing out of China recently. Most of them are just the same ol’ thing, but this SayCool tablet stood out from the rest with a 7-inch capacitive screen that’s apparently multitouch capable. Now, the tablet runs Windows XP, which isn’t nearly as touch friendly as Win7, but it certainly can be done with the right cocktail of software and hardware. It remains to be seen, however, if the multitouch capabilities can be used within Windows itself or chained down to custom-built software. It’s entirely possible that pinch-to-zoom and the other gestured advertised will only work in a SayCool program and not in standard programs like Chrome, Firefox, or MS Word. The rest of the tablet is pretty much standard: GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth, and 3G. Chances are an Atom is at the core as well. But there might not even be any reason to bother yourself with the multitouch question as it may never hit US retailers.

I’ll leave the comparisons between the Ezy Tablet PC and a certain device to be launched in a little under a month up to you. Actually, aside from the casing and the 10.2-inch multitouch LCD, there’s not a whole lot else in the way of commonality. The Ezy Tablet PC features the following: 10.2-inch multitouch display with 1024

Today seems to be the day of cheap Android tablets , and while I doubt we’ll ever see any of these in the U.S. they are worth mentioning. These particular tablets are produced in China by HiVision, a company not exactly known around the world. That could change however, because these little (7-inch) tablets look to be selling for around $100 each. Now for the specs: they are running Android of course, and have an 800

Archos is gunning for the more budget-sensitive crowd with the 7-inch “Archos 7 Home Tablet” running Android atop a 600MHz ARM9 CPU due in April for around $179. The lower-powered CPU ought to be good for some nice, long battery life and the tablet is capable of basic web browsing and 720p video playback across a wide variety of codecs. You can check out 8:35 of pure ebullience from one of Archos’ biggest fans, Charbax : The tablet will be available in capacities of 2GB and 8GB, priced at 149 Euro and 179 Euro, respectively. Charbax says that US pricing for the 2GB version should be around $179 “because European countries have more taxes they don’t just convert Euro prices to US Dollar prices.” Also announced was an 8-inch tablet/digital photo frame, the “Archos 8 Home Tablet,” which the company positions as “a product that can be used as a digital picture frame and as a mobile video player or Internet browser.” Sounds like it may be a photo frame with a (hopefully) rechargeable battery and some online-centric bells and whistles. It’ll be available in May in a 4GB capacity for 149 Euro, which will likely mean $179 in the US considering the Archos 7 also starts at 149 Euro and has been confirmed by Charbax to cost $179 US. Not a whole lot of info yet, but these things are just starting to spill out. Archos has also said that it’ll be rolling out a range of new products sized between 3 and 10 inches and based on ARM Cortex CPUs up to 1GHz throughout the summer.
