Almost all major national sports have their own defining movie, like ‘Field of Dreams’ for baseball and ‘Rocky’ in the case of boxing. Even pro wrestling has it own in ‘The Wrestler’ and it now looks as though Mixed Martial Arts will be the next to join the bill, when ‘Warrior’ hits the big screen on September 9^th. Early indications are that Warrior could indeed bring MMA out of the niche pay per view leagues and directly into the mainstream, which would of course be huge.

Initial previews are reporting good things across the board, not least of which is an exceptionally strong cast. Tom Hardy leads the pack, fresh from the set of ‘Inception’ and set to give Batman a run for his money in ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ along with another rising start by way of Joel Edgerton. Those who saw Edgerton in ‘Animal Kingdom’ will know he can deliver the goods superbly, and who better to take on the role of an alcoholic, washed-up father then Nick Nolte?

Director Gavin O’Connor has also cut his teeth in the inspirational sports flick before, having directed ‘Miracle’ to huge acclaim.

News recently broke of a huge deal between leading MMA organization UFC and the FOX network, signaling yet another move to the mainstream that could proper MMA right up there with the biggest national sports today.

Despite rather disappointing figures at theUS box office, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides proved a quite enormous success overseas. Indeed, such were the takings that movie has joined an elite circle of those that have achieved a one billion worldwide box office gross.

The US audience seems to have slightly cooled toward the franchise that was initially based on a theme park ride, with the fourth installment attracting $233.7 million by domestic sales since its opening – which is the lowest of all four movies by far. However, its worldwide success makes it the eighth film in history to top a ten-figure gross.

Executives have attributed the success of the film to the enormous worldwide popularity of Johnny Depp himself, who also saw another of his movies top the one billion mark by way of Alice in Wonderland last year. Indeed, along with another of the Pirates series, three on the eight billion-dollar films are those of Depp.

It therefore seems as though attaching the Deep name to a movie is something of a no-brainer to reach huge success, but what will the future hold if international audiences continue to show huge support for the film franchise that seems to be withering away at home? The answer…expect a myriad of co-stars and guest appearances to help curry favor, along with eye-popping visuals to draw attention away from the plot and more toward a general wow-factor.

The new Super Man movie due for release in 2011 is being directed by Zack Snyder. The movie will be written by the famous ‘Inception’ director Christopher Nolan. Snyder is one of the many directors who were in quest of getting the contract to direct the movie. According to the reports the script for the new superman movie is similar to the famous ‘Superman returns’.
As quoted by the Telegraph, Snyder said that he was stunned when he won the role to direct the movie.

He said, “Since my childhood, I have always been fascinated by superman and to direct a new sequel to it is an amazing feeling” He added, “I will make sure that I do justice with the character” Born on March 1st, 1966, Zack Snyder is a filmmaker and a producer. During his childhood he attended Camp Owatonna. He also attended the Heatherley school of Fine Arts in England.

Snyder has married twice and has six children. He made his debut as a director in 2004 with the remake of ‘Dawn of the Dead”. However he achieved world wide appreciation in 2007 after release of his movie “300”. Since then he has made a number of hit movies such as “Watchmen” and “Legend of the Guardians”. Zack has won numerous awards including Golden Lion award and Clio Awards.

Star of the movie “Sex And The City”, Kim Cattrall exclaimed that the second part of the movie wasn’t made for the film critics to review it. Kim Cattrall plays Samantha, the man-eater in the movie. What got a sound defeat from the critics was the plot of the second part of the film; Charlotte, Samantha, Miranda and Carrie getting on board for a lush trip to Abu Dhabi.

Nonetheless, Kim Cattrall stays non-compliant about the movie. Kim in an interview for The Guardian said, “The movie was supposed to be good fun and enjoyable for the masses. It wasn’t supposed to be a movie for the film reviewers”.

Exclaiming further, Kim said, “I personally feel a lot of effort and hard work was put in the movie and in my opinion, the movie was simply outstanding. I had a great time working with the other members of the cast and we all had a wonderful time”.
The second movie was met by a lot of dreadful and horrible criticism and the plans related to the production of the third part of the movie are tentative.

The cast of the Oscar winning movie ‘The sound of music’ has decided to reunite on episode of ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’ which will be airing on the 29th of October. According to entertainment weekly, Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer who are both acclaimed for their roles in the 1965 film will be present at the get together, with the actors and actresses who led the role of the seven von trap children.

Plummer, who is now 80, expressed his concern regarding being labeled stereo-type after playing the unforgettable role of captain von Trapp. In his interview with the ‘Boston Globe’, Plummer commented, “Playing the character (of Captain von Trapp) was a bit boring for me. I along with my crew tried to make the character interesting, but in the end it was just like beating up a ‘dead horse.’

Plummer who is a Canadian born actor said that the only thing he enjoyed about the project was working with his co star Andrews, who is now 74-years-old.

American teen pop icon Justin Bieber is reportedly considering to star in the upcoming movie of popular Hollywood actor Will Smith.

The teenage Canadian singer met the actor while he was recording his latest album ‘Never Say Never’ and was expressing his interest in the acting field.

The ‘Baby’ singer has a “top secret” development deal with Smith and the producers of US’ TV series CSI: Crime Scene Investigation after he had appeared on the said show.

Scooter Braun, the manager of Bieber, has confirmed that the singer is working on a feature movie to be produced by ‘The Pursuit of Happyness’ actor and Overbook, his company.

The 16-year-old singer’s manager said that the movie is a fictional piece which is quite similar to the life of Bieber.

Nevertheless, the movie is expected to be beginning its production next summer or spring in 2011.

Darren Aronofsky’s “Black Swan,” will be releasing shortly, but has been generating a lot off hype even before its release. The trailer starts off as a happy go lucky thing but after the first minute it gets astonishing. At the end the viewer is left wanting more of the awesomeness, with his appetite not yet whetted.

The trailer is pretty similar to that of Paranormal Activity, with it generating the same amount of suspense and thrill. But Paranormal activity pretty much bombed at the box office after the few opening days ,as the word started to spread of the movie not being up-to par with its trailer and not supplying enough of the thrills and suspense as promised. Most people didn’t even buy the DVD of the movie.Sometimes the best parts of a movie are patched together into a trailer, and the movie as a whole isn’t that interesting.

And so “Black Swan” will have to live up-to the hype it has created via its trailer, as the viewers are expecting something out of the ordinary and special. It might even bomb at the box office if it doesn’t live up to its expectations. But to be successful it must generate enough ticket sales whilst it is being shown in theaters and when the DVD comes out it too must sell.

The trailer has generated as much hype as the film makers wanted, but the actual film must fulfill the expectations of the viewers and then some if it is to be branded as a “successful” movie.

Mixing in a soporific way three stories where the adoption plays a paramount role between the mothers and their daughters, Mother and Child seems to last four hours in its way of doing meet superficially and in a pretentious way a multitude of characters.
Three women will see their way crossing in the joy and the pain. Karen (played by Annette Bening) gave her child in adoption and she has more and more difficulty in tie bonds with her entourage. Her daughter that she forever considering, Elizabeth (played by Naomi Watts), resembles to her, changing city not to think about her past. For her part, Lucy (played by Kerry Washington) would like to adopt, and an occasion is offered finally to her…
Son of the popular Gabriel Garcia Marquez writer, Rodrigo Garcia has touched the realization for several years. His best films (Things You Can Tell Just by Looking at Her and Nine Lives) have all joint to present several stories which put in scene a multitude of women. After a forgettable turning towards suspense with “Passengers”, here he is back to his topics of predilection, Mother and Child, of which he also ensures the scenario, while asking his good friend Alejandro González Iñárritu to act as an executive producer, which can be always useful to open closed doors and inaccessible.
Her new feature film is strewn with the most beautiful possible intentions. Which are the bonds between a woman and her child? How to fill this vacuum which is drawn up? What is really a mother? How to make to catch up with wasted time? A horde of universal and timeless questions which seem without end. With the image of the story line, moreover. Even if it lasts only 126 minutes, the production spreads out during at least forty five minutes, recalling and underlining what was already known as previously, ardently seeking to tap the least emotion.
Profiting from a setting in studied scene but ultimately empty and too invaluable, which puts on the account of the chance of the life several annoying improbabilities, this heavy object handicapped by a sound screen a little too invading does not have the happier hand in its way to concocter its characters. The feminine roles multiply as rabbits (all these mothers which seem almost magic, the teenager blind woman, etc), with beings which do not have sometimes any other function but to bring a message moralizer. All hardly goes better within the three principal destinies. Kerry Washington in vain multiplies the smiles and lets sail her natural charisma, her Lucy misses the consistent one, developing that too tardily. Still there, the vision of Garcia lacks nuance, reducing the man to a simple spectator who is more often than differently far away from balance family.
Prefabricated work on creditable sets of themes, Mother and Child is in fact heavy and repetitive mix which wants to make well but which does much too much of it. All the opposite of the significant and minor Casa de los babys of John Sayles which tackled with much more know-how a similar subject.

What is it with these Predators? Don’t they have anything else to do besides hunting and killing human beings? Don’t they have some kind of Predator opera to go to or Predator literature to create? Anyway, this is the trailer for Predators that we’ve been waiting for and it looks pretty cornhole. You know it’s going to be a rough movie when 90% of the trailer dialogue is screaming. Why did Robert Rodriguez decide to make the movie? Kotaku blames money. “In one of my kids movies, one of the kids was playing a video game,” Rodriguez recalled at a panel discussion this month. Rodriguez asked the kid what he was playing. “He [the kid] goes, ‘AvP. Respect the classics, man.’ …That’s not the classics, I gotta school this punk right now. Okay, I’m doing the Predator movie.” Classics, huh?

The 5D mk II 2.0.3 firmware was supposed to be the end-all solution for the Canon super camera. But it wasn’t. It caused more issues not worth the enhanced movie mode it added. Canon of course of pulled the firmware from its site cause many 5D mk II owners to cry a little. Because, as everyone knows, Canon owners are notoriously emotional unlike the cool and collected Nikon crowd. But chin up 5D mk II owners, the proper firmware is now available. Canon In the Version 2.0.4 firmware, the following phenomena that occurred with the Version 2.0.3 firmware (which was to enhance the movie functions) have been corrected. There was a phenomenon in which the manual recording settings made in C1/C2/C3 were changed and sound could not be recorded if manual sound recording was used in the C1/C2/C3 settings and the camera was subsequently turned off (or if Auto Power Off was activated). This does not occur in modes other than C1/C2/C3. The Version 2.0.4 firmware includes the movie function enhancements listed in items 1 through 5 below, and also incorporates the correction listed in item 6. Adds or changes the following movie frame rates.
