NCSECU New Program
General Wednesday, September 8th, 2010The NCSECU (State Employees’ Credit Union) is announcing they will now extend their clients “Another Chance”. It is a reward that aids in protecting SECU customers from bounced checks on their end, in addition to overdraft fees.
What NCSECU does, is that they give you a separate account that stores some extra cash within it. When you are making a withdrawal, or write a check for more cash than you’ve got inside your State Employees’ Credit Union account, the 2nd account will be used to help you conjure the difference. If there exists sufficient funds in that account to guard the overage amount, then customers won’t be charged an overdraft fee.
This banking service continues to be offered by NCSECU for over 20 years, but current upgrades in technology allow them to expand the overdraft program.
Furthermore this is where ‘Another Chance’ comes into play. Now checking account holders will get a text message when there is not a sufficient amount of money within their checking account to cover the purchase order or payment made. The account holder can then deposit funds into their account to cover the difference. As long as it’s before the end of that Business day.
Sue Douglas, SECU’s SVP of Operations, said, “It’s never been the main focus of SECU to have the benefit of members’ mistakes, and that we feel positive that our efforts over the past two years have resulted in an overall plan that should minimize returned items and any potential fees for members. “Another Chance” is really a terrific addition to SECU’s ongoing efforts to place financial literacy into practice and keep money where it belongs – within the pockets of our members!”
