Iowa Hawkeye Football
Sports Saturday, September 4th, 2010Iowa Hawkeye gave a spectacular performance last season. And it is for the first time that an Iowa Hawkeye football team earned the BCS which spawned great hopes for the Iowa football for this year. Out of nowhere the squad of the previous year came out and draw for the Big Ten title but bullseye dominates Kirk Ferentz and company now. Dark horse, who were among the 10 preseason rankings are looking forward to earn a national title to their name. So, as far as the conclusions are concerned this Iowa Hawkeyes football season could prove either a success or fiasco for the program.
The Hawkeye program begins today and a warm up match against Eastern Illinois is what to be expected. But if we look at the previous record easy games have given them a tough time and initial struggle would make them ostentatious to the headlines. But they rank 9th in the AP and tenth in the USA TODAY.
But if we put some light on the Iowa Hawkeyes history we find that it is not that much filled with Big Ten and national title candidates. Although they did revive the history in 1985 when they remained No. 1 for five weeks and then their 11-2 season in 2009, filled with the co-Big Ten championship and Orange Bowl winning. A trip to Arizona on 18th and on 25th a match with Ball State is also included in the pre Big Ten schedule for Iowa Hawkeye football.
