Toshiba Satellite T135, T135D and Satellite Pro T130 notebooks: Overheating problem
Tech Friday, September 3rd, 2010There has been some problem with Toshibas laptops specifically Toshiba Satellite T135, T135D and Satellite Pro T130; we have got some info regarding their owners. These laptops have been called back by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada due to the rise of overheating and melting incidents and cases whose number have reached to 100.
These laptops specifically Satellite ones which include Satellite T135, T135D and Satellite Pro T130 have had a manufacturing fault in DC-In. these notebooks will be having model/part numbers starting with PST3AU, PST3BU, PST3LU. These note are said to reach to the point where the base of the notebooks melts where the AC adopter also hooks in. although no cases of burn of severe injury has been reported yet but the overheating of notebook can cause severe burn if some part of the body comes in contact with the DC-In Jack or plug because of risen temperature.
Toshiba has come up with a remedy to solve this problem, to prevent the laptop from overheating Toshiba is giving away BIOS revision. All you need to do is update your laptops BIOS to version to 2.70 for Satellite T135 and for Satellite Pro 130 and 1.90 for Satellite T135D.
