For starters, affiliate marketers make money by promoting products and services. For each successful lead, click, or sale that they generate to the advertiser or vendors website, they earn a commission or a set amount of money. This is the basic concept of affiliate marketing. The actual process in which they make the money varies. Here is an example of how an affiliate marketer makes money.
Bob has a website about acne that gets a decent amount of traffic. He decides that he wants to try to see if he can make some money from that traffic. He searches the Internet for products related to acne or skin care. He finds a very popular acne product and sees that they have an affiliate program. He looks over the details and finds that he can earn 70% commission on every sale of that product.
He joins and accesses the affiliate center and finds a nice attractive banner he can put on his site. He copies the code over to his website which also includes his affiliate link so that if someone purchases the product from his website, he will get credit for the sale. The banner is now live. After a while Bob started getting clicks on his banner and then he seen a couple of sales come in. Bob just made money marketing a product via his website.
In the example, Bob became an affiliate marketer and made money. He found an affiliate program and started promoting what they had to offer. He used his existing website to market the product. This is what affiliate marketing is about. The exact method used to generate leads, sales, or clicks isn’t always the same but the overall concept is. Market a product or service that will generate you some commission.
This sounds pretty easy and for some it is easy but it can take some time to figure it all out and actually start making money. The good thing about it though is that you don’t have to worry about handling any payments or deal with the things that a vendor or product owner has to deal with. All you have to do is send traffic to their website to make money.
A good way to start is by finding a market that you can target. This can be a market that you are personally interested in or one that you don’t mind getting into. For example, one market you could get into is “dog training”. However, you have to make sure there are buyers in this market. After finding a market to get into, you have to find a product or service that you can offer to the market. There are many affiliate networks that you can join to find products and service such as Amazon, CJ, and Clickbank.
Once you have chosen which product you want to promote to your market, all that is left to do is to drive traffic to the vendor or advertiser’s website using your unique affiliate link that they will provide you. This is where the marketing comes in. There are lots of ways to market online. You can set up a blog or website and drive traffic to it, write articles and press releases, make videos, and a lot of other things to get traffic leading to the vendor’s website. The more targeted traffic you get to the vendors website, the more chances you have to generate commissions.
Making money as an affiliate marketer requires some patience, skill, and effort. Even with that being said, it is still a great way for people to make money online. Once you know about affiliate marketing and how it all works, you can start to put your plan in motion and start earning money. After a while, everything will become a lot easier and you will continue to increase your knowledge of how it all works while at the same time increase your income.
