Each and every week lately seems to bring along a separate though equally tantalizing rumor regarding the Apple iPad line – this week in particular being all about the iPad Mini. Of course, chatter of a new, smaller iPad prior to the launch of the iPad 3 has been doing the rounds for quite some time now, but this week has added further fuel to the fire by way of unconfirmed reports coming out of Korea.
Were that not enough, there are also whispers from various angles regarding a new iPhone 5 with a 4 inch display.
At this very moment, Apple and LG are reportedly discussing a $1.1 billion deal for display part to be used in iOS devices right up to the year 2016. Of course, Steve Jobs had indicated in no uncertain terms that the iPad would be unlikely to ever go below 10 inches, though this may indeed prove the first significant move of the Tim Cook era.
Meanwhile, industry analysts have indicated that demand for the iPad and iPad 2 could be somewhat fading on the run up to the holiday season, following the launch of the hugely popular Amazon Kindle Fire and the Barnes & Nobel Nook Tablet. Needless to say, a cheaper iPad Mini would bridge the gap just nicely, which cannot possibly have escaped the attention of Apple for a moment.
In other news, a recent press release from Qualcomm has made the suggestion that the company’s 4G LTE Gobi 4000 chip is on course to be included in the iPad 3 upon its release date, whenever and wherever it may finally come about.
