With every major manufacturer in the world and all their subsidiary resources trying desperately to come up with a worthy contender for the iPad, it is becoming increasingly clear that the job of de-throning Apple is not going to be an easy once and will require a truly biblical tablet.
Google and Microsoft are of course leading the charge, with Android tabs in particular doing a very good job of taking at least a modest degree of the spotlight.
However, there is one technological leviathan that may prove the number one contender by far and is about to see if they have what it take to achieve the impossible – that being Amazon.
Amazon have already proved exactly how good they can be at creating a world leading device by way of the Kindle e-reader and now they have the tablet market squarely in their sights. Almost certain to run on a special version of Android, the Amazon Kindle Tab is set to offer a mid range experience with impressive specs and one key feature that sets it in a league of its own – a sub $300 purchase price.
Needless to say, the world simply loves a bargain and if Amazon manage to include all of their technological expertise and excellent user experience into a tablet for this price, Apple might be wise to watch their backs…
