Miley Cyrus Throwing Out Fan Base Along With Hannah Montana Image
Entertainment, General, Headlines Thursday, August 18th, 2011
Once the quintessential Disney princess of the 21st century, the often eyebrow-raising behavior of Miley Cyrus has left many suggesting that her transition from teen starlet to full-blown adult superstar will not be anywhere near as simple as she may have hoped.
Since casting her alter-ego of Hannah Montana to the past once and for all, the 18 year-old singer and actress has chalked up nine tattoos, been spotted smoking through a bong and attracted criticism far and wide for her choice of racy outfits when performing in front of young children.
According to a number of observers, the ongoing backlash serves as clear evidence that the world is not yet ready for an adult Miley Cyrus and that her aggressive attempts to push herself as one could prove hugely counterproductive.
It has been suggested on numerous occasions that Miley would be well advised to take each step of the transition incredibly slowly and with as much care as possible, so as to not find herself embarking down a path from which there is no return. The problem is that while she may have seen it as necessary to throw away her wholesome and innocent image, she has also thrown away a considerable proportion of her fan base.
Miley is still enjoying unbridled success and the future is hers for the taking, though how she carries and portrays herself over the coming months could indeed shape the rest of her life.
At this stage in the game, her only options are to carefully rethink her approach to the future or risk burning out once and for all.
