Hannah Montana Star, Miley Cyrus, Brings Tour to a Close

Miley Cyrus has brought her Gypsy Heart world tour to a close, with a final and arguably epic performance in Perth on Saturday night. As usual, the Hannah Montana star performed to a fully packed house – many of whom were likely to have been enjoying their very first concert experience.
Through the ground-shaking wall of sound and light show that would have made Pink Floyd jealous, the teen sensation took to the stage in an outfit that was not dissimilar to those donned by Madonna during her Erotica era. With a minimal stage setup and basic props, the set consisted of an equal mix of original songs and covers.
Again, as has been the same throughout the tour, the oddest choice was that of a cover of Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana, which led to a number of bizarre sights of six year olds in fancy dress dancing around the aisles while Miley herself was thrashing around on stage to a song released before she was born.
While a couple of the song choices and Miley’s own ‘unique’ take on them was a little debatable to say the least, the truth of the matter is that she could have sand or done anything and still had the crowd eating out of the palm of her hand. Love for Miley may be wavering in US soil but, for the time at least, she seems more welcome in Australia than she could possibly have wished for.
