Everybody Will Love an iPad

A love that is set to ignite

The fashion these days is to build something up and then when it is unrealistically high, to dump it with the least amount of ceremony. I hope that the iPad will not suffer the same fate as I am one of the people who have been a fan from the very beginning. I hate technological crazes especially if the product does not stand up to deliver the hype. However on this occasion I really believe that the iPad is the real deal. The services that it offers for the development of technology are unique and innovative. Thus when people rave about it, I am not too fussed. In fact I have been guilty of being too enthusiastic on occasion but at least I am allowed a vice once in a while.

From the very first time that they launched the iPad I had a suspicion that this was going to be something rather special. It resembled some of the mini computers that we had seen in the past but had the added advantage of having some extra ordinary features that rivaled the main computer packages that normally hold sway. The iPad speaks of modernity and convenience. If you do have the money, the iPad can be a wise and useful investment. Of course the product will become obsolete in a few years when a new gadget makes its way onto the market.

Moving on to the climactic conclusion

Normally products such as the iPod fall out of favor when something more interesting comes onto the market. It may not necessarily even be of better quality but the fact that it is new and interesting is usually sufficient evidence for the old to be thrown out. I think this is an indication of the consumer society whereby everything is disposable no matter how much expense was made in trying to acquire it. The iPad is just like any other toy. When the children are tired of it, they will throw it away.

How then can the manufacturers of a product such as the iPad ensure that this fate does not befall them? I think that the best way to deal with a consumer society is to give them what they want. Rather than creating a product that will last for decades, you need to create one that will merely last for days or even hours. That means that they can then feel justified to replace the product. As for the iPad, the manufacturer will have to continuously create upgraded versions that can keep the interest of a fickle public.

This attitude has to trickle down to the marketing team who has to somehow make it clear to the buying public that this is not a product for life but a product for the current period of time. In the olden days someone would be looking to keep the apple iPad for generations but in modern times that is just not possible. Everything is temporary and permanent things have become old fashioned.
